Busoni Composition Prize
The Busoni Composition Prize was founded in 1988 by composer and Akademie member Aribert Reimann (1936–2024). It is awarded every two to three years to young composers who are still relatively unknown to the broader public. Through this prize, the Akademie promotes a new generation of composers. Since 1992, an additional prize has been awarded to encourage the work of young composers who have not yet completed their studies.
Award recipients are determined by a jury composed of members of the Music Section. The selection is based on recommendations.
The Busoni Composition Prize is endowed with 6,000 euros. The Sponsorship Award is endowed with 2,500 euros.
