Artists who engage with ecofeminist concepts today combine values of diversity, coexistence between human and more-than-human species, and social justice with feminist discourses and artistic methods. Art becomes a place or mechanism that promotes healing, regeneration, ecological knowledge, and awareness.

The symposium takes as its starting point the exchange project “Songs of Serpents – Ecopoetic Zones”, which connects artist residencies in peripheral locations in Germany, Italy, Albania, Ukraine, and Lithuania. The network promotes transdisciplinary research at the intersection of art, ecology, and ecofeminism. Each residency location contributes its own local characteristics and themes, as well as ecological and political challenges. At the same time, the transnational residency community highlights global geopolitical forces and exploitative practices.
