Twenty vibrators dressed in little tulle tutus dance buzzing on a mirror to Johann Strauss's Blue Danube Waltz. In 1979, installation and sound artist Christina Kubisch addressed the male-dominated sound art scene in her performance as part of the series Vibrations / Dirty Electronics (Impossible Projects). The objects are now part of the Art Collection of the Akademie der Künste. On the occasion of the finissage, the artist will perform the Ballet again.

This will be followed by a demonstration of the rotating zero-beam loudspeaker developed in the late 1950s by composer, conductor and sound researcher Hermann Scherchen. The loudspeaker consists of 32 individual speakers that emit sound evenly in all directions, ensuring optimal music reproduction in the room. Malte Giesen, head of the Academy's Studio for Electroacoustic Music, will demonstrate the ‘breathing sphere’ and explain the possibilities of this historic sound art object.
