After the video screening of Ulrike Ottinger's Southeast Passage (2002) Karin Sander will welcome the audience at 7 pm and Horst Bredekamp will open the evening. A discussion with Horst Bredekamp, Doris Metz, Karin Sander and Olaf Stüber about the exhibition concept and perspectives on video art from various viewpoints will follow. Anke Hervol will moderate the talk.

Video art as an electronic medium aroused increasing interest among artists who had previously expressed themselves in other art forms. Thanks to curators such as Wulf Herzogenrath and scholars such as Horst Bredekamp, it gained early acceptance in art historical research.

Since 1998, Doris Metz has been making successful documentary films and television films. She won the German Film Award for Best Documentary 2025 for Petra Kelly – Act Now!
