In the office, people are working. Democracy is work. But who can get involved and have a say?

On the second evening of the series of talks, Gregor Gysi, the Alterspräsident (President by Seniority) of the 21st German Bundestag, will speak with Akademie President Manos Tsangaris about how more people can become involved in political decision-making.

The politician Gregor Gysi looks back on decades of political work. The composer Manos Tsangaris, President of the Akademie der Künste, asks about the contribution of the arts to democracy. What can art and politics learn from one another? And where does understanding reach its limits because interests and convictions diverge?

The Office of the Public Realm brings together people from the worlds of politics, the arts and culture, business, the media, the church, sport, the military and other sectors of society to engage in dialogue. The focus is on the conditions for a democratic public sphere and on how joint action can be achieved despite enduring differences.
