To accompany the exhibition at Schloss Bellevue, Akademie President Manos Tsangaris has initiated the “Office of the Public Realm”, a discursive-performative format that not only addresses the concept of the public sphere but actively explores it. Through conversations, artistic contributions and collaborative situations, a space is created in which aesthetic and social perspectives converge.

Numerous members of the Akademie der Künste’s six artistic sections are represented. Under the motto “You have the floor”, visitors are given the opportunity to be interviewed on camera by members of the Film and Media Arts section about their very personal vision of the future, thereby contributing in a participatory manner. Against the backdrop of an increasingly polarised culture of debate, the “Office of the Public Realm” invites visitors to an open and analogue exchange on the conditions of democratic public life.
