Vita

Aizada Amangeldy is a Kyrgyz dramaturgist, filmmaker and visual artist. A graduate of VGIK in Moscow, she is an alumna of IDFAcademy, Munich Film Up! and the American Film Showcase, and a former resident of the Nipkow Programme and Berlin Artist-in-Residence. She is currently working on The Manaschy Homecoming, her feature documentary about a female Manas storyteller, migration, motherhood and the survival of oral tradition.

Residency

During my fellowship at the Akademie der Künste, I will continue developing my feature documentary, The Manaschy Homecoming. The film follows a female Manas storyteller whose life unfolds between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, exploring how migration reshapes identity, memory and the transmission of oral tradition across generations.

During the residency, I will focus on refining the film’s narrative and visual language through research, editing of footage, and dialogue with artists from different disciplines. I hope this period will allow me to discover new ways of connecting personal stories with the living heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
