Jessé de Souza is professor of sociology at the Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC) in São Paulo (Brazil) and at Sorbonne Université, Paris (France). He is the author of many books including the national non-fiction bestseller 2017, A Elite do Atraso (“The backward Elite”). His recent work influenced the way Brazilians perceive their history and society criticizing the hegemonic previous view. His areas of interests include social theory, inequality and social classes.
