Swiss documentary filmmaker Heidi Specogna shoots at locations where news no longer travels: on refugee routes in Latin America, in war zones such as Darfur and The Congo, in remote villages, where yesterday’s dead still lie in the streets. She takes time following the trails of crimes and questions the West’s responsibility. “To travel in these countries and expose oneself to the stresses, strains and dangers, requires enormous courage from her and her team”, the jury recognised in their statement on the Konrad Wolf Prize.
