The new works are to be presented at KONTAKTE 2027 in Berlin as well as in Stockholm.

The residency program supports new artistic and technical initiatives and ideas in the field of time-based, performative, digital arts at the intersection of sound, music, and technology.

It is open to all artists who apply individual or group projects in the following categories:

  • Project proposals from artists for the creation of new instrumental and live-electronic works
  • Works in the fields of acousmatic music, computer music, and radio art, as well as other forms of electroacoustic music and sound art
  • Project proposals from artists of all disciplines who view sound as a central element of their artistic work
  • Curatorial, publishing, and educational projects in the field of sound-based art practice, particularly those that refer in content to the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at AdK and EMS in Stockholm
  • Independent research projects in the fields of acoustics, computer science, and musicology, specifically software development, spatialization, or network technologies

Application deadline: July 31, 2026
Project duration: flexible, by agreement

Travel and accommodation costs associated with stays in Berlin and Stockholm will be covered for all participating artists. In addition, artists will receive fees for the presentation of their works at the KONTAKTE Festival 2027 in Berlin as well as for the presentation in Stockholm.

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online application form. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline cannot be considered in the selection process. The selection of scholarship recipients is made by the director and the advisory board of the Studio for Electroacoustic Music and the director of EMS in Stockholm; the decision is final. There is no legal entitlement to funding.

This call for applications supplements the Studio for Electroacoustic Music’s regular residency program. The current call for applications for the period July–December 2026, with an application deadline of June 30, 2026, remains unchanged.
