Timm Ulrichs

The Werbezentrale für Totalkunst / Banalismus / Extemporismus (Advertising Centre for Total Art / Banalism / Extemporism), founded by the conceptual artist Timm Ulrichs in 1961, with its associated “room gallery & room theatre, still forms both the starting point and central reference for his artistic production today, in which living and working spaces merge. The focus of his art is his own person as well as the social and urban environment. As a “total artist”, he fights for independence from the art market, for stylistic freedom and in the sense of conceptual art for the recognition and protection of the idea rather than the object. Ulrichs pursues a modernist utopia that sees life and art as a unity.
