Since studying dance in Essen, Dresden and Cologne, Ulrike Grossarth has been working with artistic themes based on her interest in different cultural techniques. As professor for interdisciplinary artistic work and mixed media at the Dresden University of Fine Arts, she is developing a method centred on “the question of movement as a principle of constantly changing form”. In her performances, installations, drawings, graphics, and video films, Grossarth gives artistic form to the relationship between memory and history, between the material environment and the active human being.
