Famous women

Guided Tour

The resting places of famous women in art and culture are the focus of this guided tour of the Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof (Dorotheenstadt Cemetery). It tells of the writers Christa Wolf and Annemarie Bostroem, the artists Beatrice Zweig and Doris Kahane, the opera director Ruth Berghaus and many others.

The Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof first came into the limelight with the burial of Johann Gottlieb Fichte about 200 years ago. With the subsequent burial of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and later Bertolt Brecht, it became an attractive resting place for personalities from intellectual life. In cooperation with Evangelischer Friedhofsverband Berlin Stadtmitte the Brecht-Weigel Museum offers thematic guided tours of the cemetery every Wednesday at 2 pm. Meeting point is the courtyard of the Brecht-Haus.
