EMOP Opening Days

Festival

The Opening Days begin with the opening of the central festival exhibition on the EMOP Berlin leitmotif, “what stands between us”. To kick off the photo festival, three days of artist talks and panel discussions with international guests, guided tours and a film programme in the festival centre at the Akademie der Künste on Hanseatenweg will give space and direction to current discourses in photography.

Numerous exhibitions by partner institutions will also open in the city. In line with the leitmotif, special focus will be placed on how artists use the medium of photography to address current political and social conflicts, such as how to deal with nationalist tendencies, violence from the right, an tightened asylum policy, ongoing wars, and climate catastrophes. All of these events need to be witnessed and told. What role does photography play here? At “Photos in Books”, you can also look forward to numerous publishers being presented along with their new publications.
