Logan February is a poet and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores desire, psychospirituality, and Afro-queer identity. Their poetry collections include In The Nude (Ouida Poetry, 2019), Mental Voodoo (Poesie Dekolonie/Engeler Verlag, 2024) and the forthcoming Nude Imperative (Spector Books, 2025). Their short film, Thrall, was an official selection at the 2025 ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival.
February received the Future Awards Africa Prize for Literature and has been a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and a poet-in-residence at the Humboldt Forum.
During the Junge Akademie residency, I will be finishing a hybrid work of poetry, Celestial Black, which examines “black” as a moral, psychic and cosmic phenomenon – superego, soul, and deep space – beyond colonial and anthropocentric views on reality.
My untitled series of personal lyric essays on Afro-queer artistic exile will also be collected in the form of my first prose book, and my English translation of Móremí, the Yoruba opera by Duro Ladipo, will be further developed for experimental performance.
