Ingo Schulze spent six months in the Ruhr region from October 2022 to March 2023 in a hemisphere that he writes is “sometimes not to be taken for granted”, especially from the perspective of a Berlin Saxon. His encounters in Mülheim, Essen, Duisburg, Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund, Bochum, Oberhausen, Ruhrort, Herne and Bottrop have resulted in 18 observations, reportages and portraits that surprise, delight and concern.
