Winter Music. Wavering World View

Concerts and Talks

The third edition of the biennial festival with Swiss ensemble Proton was curated by Carola Bauckholt and Iris ter Schiphorst. “Wavering Wolrd View“ refers to sensations triggered by a crisis-ridden, rapidly changing present. Today‘s upheaval resembles the world as Nicola Vicentino perceived it in the 16th century, the time of the Copernican Turn. His unusual instrument, the Arciorgano - replicated by Studio 31 in Basel - is at the centre of the programme. The works, which express „wavering“ in music, address microtonality, moods with transcultural and historical references, and the sensation of doubt, pain and disorientation in the face of change.

The concerts are spatially staged in the large exhibition hall, with the audience changing position during the concerts and experiencing changing listening qualities.

With compositions by Casper Johannes Walter, Arnold Dreyblatt, Peter Michael Hamel, Rolf Riehm, Adriana Hölszky, Annette Schmucki, Thomas Kessler, Sidney Corbett and Anda Kryeziu.
