About KUNSTWELTEN

The KUNSTWELTEN education programme draws on the diversity of works and experiences of the Akademie's members, fellows, archives and collections. Guided tours and introductions, discussions, workshops, creative activities and a variety of inclusive offers bring the themes and projects of the Akademie and its members closer to children, young people and adults. Artists from all Sections engage with children and young people with empathy, sparking their curiosity and enthusiasm. They present their works to participants and work with them in art workshops.

KUNSTWELTEN on the Road

KUNSTWELTEN programmes take place in many locations: accompanying exhibitions at the Akademie der Künste venue at Pariser Platz, on Hanseatenweg and in the Akademie's archives, at Berlin schools and in other German and European cities.

Since 2006, KUNSTWELTEN has also been active in the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and Vorpommern-Greifswald, offering readings, film and radio play events, and workshops for schoolchildren of all ages.

Another focus is artistic outreach work with children and young people in a Berlin community centre, where art workshops, often accompanied by excursions in the city, are held regularly to educate, encourage and build connections.

Inclusive Offers

Streets and buildings in Berlin-Mitte (e.g. Brandenburg Gate, TV Tower) are constructed as miniature models on a floor panel and equipped with tactile dots

A key objective of KUNSTWELTEN is to create inclusive offers for children, young people and adults. Guided tours are offered for visually impaired and blind visitors both in the Akademie’s Picture Cellar at Pariser Platz and in temporary exhibitions.

In cooperation with the Allgemeiner Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverein Berlin (ABSV, General Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Berlin), guided tours are offered in tandem, using tactile models and other tools. In addition, there are guided tours with translation into German Sign Language (DGS). Another important focus is on artistic workshops for schoolchildren with disabilities.
