Opening Lecture

On the re-appearance of ancestral forms of movement

Chilean-Mexican-Austrian choreographer Amanda Piña’s work looks for escape routes to the outdated logics of modernity, focusing on social power of movement for temporarily dismantling ideological separations between contemporary and traditional, human and animal, nature and culture. In the opening lecture she will discuss how the re-appearance of ancestral forms of movement is a way of knowing through metamorphosis, as a form of dance and performance beyond the western frame of representation.
