Konrad Wolf Prize 2017:
Márta Mészáros
Márta Mészáros is receiving the 2017 Konrad Wolf Prize for her oeuvre, which has long been a part of the pantheon of European cinematography. In her feature films, the Hungarian director (b. 1931 in Kispest) maintains a precise documentary view of the milieus of her protagonists – mostly women who explore rebellious, angry and stubborn ways out of repressive conditions, whether in their families or in society. Mészáros has received numerous awards for her films. Adoption, for example, was the winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 1975.
