KOLLEKTIV Ensemblekollektiv Berlin
COLLECTIVE – a word resonating with utopian ideals, evoking community and cooperation, equality and consensus, and a togetherness now quite foreign to neo-liberal western societies. Last year, four internationally recognized Berlin ensembles for new music launched a project to form a ‘collective’ creating an orchestra with new musical possibilities. Since then, Ensemble Adapter, Sonar Quartett, Ensemble Apparat and ensemble mosaik have performed as a special constellation based on chamber music structures, actively testing the balance between individual and common interests at each concert. Here, the musicians, all with experience in many international and cross-border projects, are combining their own concerts with collective performances. The concert programme includes works by Gérard Grisey, Ann Cleare, Gary Berger, Mathias Hinke, Iris ter Schiphorst, Bernhard Lang, Caspar Johannes Walter and Stephan Winkler
