Two films by Andreas Goldstein: The film Adam und Evelyn (20 Mar, 6 pm), based on the novel by Ingo Schulze, tells the story of a couple in search of paradise. Is it in the east or west, in a familiar or in a foreign place? The documentary Der Funktionär casts a spotlight on Goldstein’s relationship with his father, the East German cultural official Klaus Gysi.
What the two films have in common is the composure of the storytelling, and the images by camerawoman Jakobine Motz, which speak of the inexpressible, of the possibilities inherent in every decision.
