Birgit Hein’s writings testify to an exceptional artistic programme and describe her “idea” of film. Although she addresses the materiality of film as a medium, she does not solely define film by the material support, but also by the “idea”. This volume, edited by Nanna Heidenreich, Heike Klippel und Florian Krautkrämer, presents a selection of Hein’s key writings and interviews supplemented by many previously unpublished photographs.
