Exhibition "Uncertain States": Special opening hours during the public holidays
Programme starts 3 Jan 2017

The exhibition "Uncertain States. Artistic Strategies in States of Emergency" can be visited on 25 Dec and 26 Dec 2016 as well as on 1 Jan 2017. It is closed on 24 Dec and 31 Dec. The exhibition will run through 15 Jan 2017.

In the exhibition, experiences of flight and exile between 1933 and 1945 provide a framework for analysing and coming to terms with current states of emergency. Selected objects and documents from the Akademie der Künste archives – by Walter Benjamin, Bertolt Brecht, Valeska Gert, Lea Grundig, Heinrich Mann, Bruno Taut, Kurt Tucholsky and others – correspond to contemporary artworks by Francis Alÿs, Nezaket Ekici, Ayşe Erkmen, William Forsythe, Mona Hatoum, Isaac Julien, Marwan, Richard Mosse, et al.

The last two weeks of the exhibition are accompanied by discussions, film screenings and lectures with Natasha A. Kelly, Sonia Kennebeck, Wim Wenders, Horst Bredekamp, Stefan Weber, Armin Nassehi, Grada Kilomba, Chantal Mouffe and many more. The 2017 programme starts on 3 Jan with the panel "Uncertain Bodies" (including Nana Adusei-Poku, Khader Abu-Seif and Rosa von Praunheim) as well as with Jake Witzenfeld’s film Oriented.
