The Library of the Arts
The Library of the Arts is one of the largest interdisciplinary special libraries on culture and modernist arts. It houses a collection of 650,000 volumes from every artistic discipline and outstanding special collections on topics such as exhibition catalogues up to the present day, Expressionism, exile during the National Socialist era, and the literature and culture of the GDR. With its extremely valuable 400 private libraries of writers, theatre makers, composers and artists, it also invites you to discover extremely rare writings and elaborately designed artists' books. The library is open to all interested parties and the collections can be accessed free of charge.
Starting from the Reading Room on Pariser Platz with a magnificent view of the Brandenburg Gate, the tour takes you on a voyage of discovery through the library's treasures and also provides insights into the hidden stacks.
