Eberhard Fechner
Chronicler of Daily Life
The films of director Eberhard Fechner (1926–1992) portray a panorama of the last century of German history that intersects all levels of society. In his documentaries, he used endless hours of interview footage to create virtual dialogues, as in his most important film Der Prozeß (1975–84) about the trial of those responsible at the Majdanek concentration camp. On the occasion of the opening of his archive, film clips will be shown, and Gero Erhardt, Manfred Eichel and Martin Wiebel will talk about their collaborations with Fechner.
