Astrid Klein
Astrid Klein addresses the manifold relationships between image and text in her works. In experimental photo collages such as Cuts, she uses photographic methods to question the levels of reality in image and reproduction. The artist works on the major themes – sex, violence and death – from an overtly feminist position, and holds answers in ambivalent suspension, something that is also reflected in the sometimes cryptic word combinations of her works' titles. The artist's work includes drawings, paintings, sculptural elements (mirrors), photographic ready-mades, text fragments and her own texts.
