Letters from France. Hans Fallada's Months in the Reich Labor Service 1943
In 1943, Hans Fallada took over cultural troop support in the Reich Labour Service. Peter Walther talks to editor Carsten Gansel about Fallada’s correspondence from the war months, which provides insights into his work and the mood in occupied France. Gabriele Radecke presents the Fallada collection of the Literature Archives of the Akademie der Künste; Ulrich Noethen reads from Fallada’s unknown correspondence with his wife Suse, which closes one of the last gaps in the writer’s enthralling biography.
The event will be streamed.
