Heartfield’s entire visual arts and written estate came into the Archives of the Akademie der Künste as a bequest. In addition to 17.6 linear meters of archival materials, it includes more than 6000 works of visual art, which are presented in a new online catalogue.
Meike Herdes and Anna Schultz, on staff in the Akademie’s Art Collection, offer impressions of the catalogue raisonné’s functionality and features. They turn the spotlight on individual works as an inspiration to discover Heartfield’s oeuvre. Michael Krejsa, head of the Visual Arts Archives, presents Heartfield’s biography, enriched with quotes and photographs. Singer Alix Dudel and guitarist Gitarrist Sebastian Albert provide the programme’s musical accompaniment.
