Gerhard Goßmann
The estate of the illustrator, draughtsman and graphic artist is largely located in the Gerhard Goßmann Archive in his home town of Fürstenwalde. Exhibitions of his book illustrations, playing cards and travel pictures from Korea, Albania and Egypt have made his work publicly accessible there. Among Goßmann's works are over 270 illustrations for children's and adults' books, including Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind, Charles Dickens' David Copperfield and books by Hans Christian Andersen, Miguel de Cervantes, Nikolai Gogol, Wilhelm Hauff, Heinrich von Kleist, Theodor Storm and Leo Tolstoy. For his cover designs, the artist often chooses wide landscape views, which run over the front and back covers of the book.
