In der Ausstellung „Schwindel der Wirklichkeit“ stellte die Akademie der Künste 2014 künstlerische Strategien vor, in denen die Wahrnehmung und die Aktivität der Besucher ins Zentrum rückten und das Kunstwerk sich nur in ihnen und durch sie verwirklichte. Dabei stehen die aktuellen Entwicklungen der Game Art in einer Tradition künstlerischer Auseinandersetzungen seit den 1960er Jahren, insbesondere mit den Closed-Circuit-Videoinstallationen, aber auch den Partizipations- und Performanceprojekten im Zentrum. Dieser dreimonatige ‚Liveact‘ führte zu Texten (u.a. von Horst Bredekamp, Mark Butler, Michael Diers, Wulf Herzogenrath, Slavko Kacunko), Fotografien und Filmen, die in einem Reader in Kooperation mit der Buchhandlung Walther König mit repräsentativer Fotostrecke erschienen sind. / After photography, film and video, digital media – in particular since the 1990s – has radically altered our understanding of art. In fall 2014 in Berlin, the Akademie der Künste’s Vertigo of Reality exhibition showcased artistic strategies and practices reflecting on and engaging with a viewer’s perception and involvement where a work of art, beyond objecthood, is realized, as it were, in and through this very process. This locates the current developments in game art within a tradition of artistic critique and debate going back to the 1960s, evident particularly in closed-circuit video installations, but equally apparent in participative and performance projects. This three-month live act created texts (by Horst Bredenkamp, Mark Butler, Michael Diers, Wulf Herzogenrath, Slavko Kacunko), photographs and films which will be published in cooperation with the Buchhandlung Walther König in a book with exhibition views.
